What I’ve been thinking about for the last few months? I used to paint before my TBI and afterwards I used the actual process of it, to feel better about myself.
Over the years I’ve seen that on the HealthUnblocked forum for TBI survivors too, people using art in a similar way to myself.
So, here’s my idea. Why don’t we get together and have an exhibition? For TBI survivors who have used art, in whatever way, to help ourselves? It doesn’t have to be just painting, what about written word, poetry, even sculpture and other mediums?
I wrote to Headway suggesting this and they like the idea – asking whether I would keep them up to date. Possibly put it on their website if it gets up and going.
Talking to other artists, I’m thinking it could either be a virtual exhibition online, using a platform, or an actual exhibition in a gallery somewhere. I think the virtual side of it sounds easier and I’m happy to look for a good platform to design it…
With this idea running through my head, I got a bit carried away and thought it’d be great if well known TBI survivors would like to be involved.
So, I’ve written to James Cracknell and I’m awaiting a reply.
I also wrote to Jason Padgett about it - do you know who he is? Jason Padgett - Wikipedia he replied and said it sounds like a great idea!
I’m also thinking about Andrew Marr, the journalist who had a stroke and started making art afterwards.
So, I wrote on HealthUnblocked about this today and have had a good response. I think the first thing to do would be to see how many people would like to add something to the exhibition. So, if you happen to be a TBI survivor and would like to take part then I’d love to hear from you!
