While driving down to my Mum and Dads with my family, it always makes me take a look at my life while on the motorway. I need to address loads of things but the biggest is simple. Get a job. Bring in some money.
Since my TBI I've had one paid job - a part time role for BioBank. I've also volunteered which has given me experience on the shop floor and teaching adults with special needs.
Now I don't want this to come across as showing off, that really isn't what I'm about. But what have I got to offer? I'm a vet, I was a scientist, I'm an artist, I've been a waitress, I've worked in shops...
...the last slide I think, shows exactly why my applications are refused. In the last 16 years since my TBI I've had a part time position and I've done some volunteering. The 16 years before my TBI was completely filled with qualifications and jobs. When people look at my application I assume they look for recent experience for the role. When they see mine, they toss it aside and look at the next applicant. End of.
