Get A Job

Get.

A.

Job.

OK, I used to be a scientist until my TBI, but everything's changed now. I've made a few different versions of my CV, for science jobs, clerical jobs, tutoring jobs and so on. Oh and in terms of science jobs I only apply for technician roles, certainly not anything researchy. Unfortunately.

I've also expanded my CV from my career one, talking about the labs where I've worked, to times when I've worked in retail, waitressing and voluntary work too.

When I got help from my councellor who specialised in brain injury, I remember her saying one thing. Get a part time job and see how it works. That way if it does, then I can increase the hours. That's because like other TBI survivors, I get tired.

So when I look on job recruitment sites I always put "part time" as a search entry.

Why then did last week happen? That's because I saw a few jobs that I knew I could do. I knew before my TBI I could definitel do. And they were full time positions. But I applied for them nevertheless, not thinking. Suddenly I got two interviews for two that I'd applied for.

It's only then that the penny dropped. Can I really do I full time job? PLUS with those responsibilities? PLUS what will I wear for interview? PLUS do I have all the experience needed?

So I've spent most of my awake hours stressing about it. A constant buzz in the back of my mind.

Until I withdrew from them.

I really need to be careful what jobs I apply for. They must be part time to start with. I need to write out parameters that I must use in order to apply for anything. Hopefully I can prevent the past week happening again!
